TC2000 Tutorial #3

Sector Indexes:
  1. First, the help index has a great guide to the Indexes. Get to this by clicking on Help; Telechart 2000 Help Topics; Index tab, look for Index. You will go to a screen titled "Indexes available in TeleChart 2000."
  2. When you get to this screen, maximize & scroll down about three major clicks to the paragraph that begins: Here's a neat trick... This provides one way to make important sector indexes easy to reach.
  3. I prefer a similar approach but by putting the indexes I use regularly on a specific watch list, in the following way:
    1. Click on the pull-down menu under WatchList
    2. Scroll to the very top of the menu and click on All Indexes
    3. This is a list of 85 indexes (at this writing) that cover a host of groups.
    4. Select those that you want to look at regularly. Flag each index you want to save by clicking on the index (making it active on the chart screen), then pressing the letter F, which puts an asterisk by the index ticker.
    5. Repeat this step until you have flagged each index among the 85 you want to pay attention to.
    6. Click on WatchList at the top menu bar, then Copy to Other List, then click on Flagged Symbols.
    7. This will take you to a window asking where you want to copy the flagged symbols.
    8. Scroll to the very bottom of this window and click on New WatchList, then OK.
    9. It asks you to type in the name of this new watch list, choose Indexes, or whatever name you choose, then click OK.
    10. It will now copy the flagged indexes to this new watch list.
    11. Take a look at it now, by clicking on the WatchList pull-down menu, and find the name you gave the watch-list.
    12. You can now tab down through the indexes with the space bar.
    13. Now go back to the WatchList pull-down menu and scroll down below the yellow lightening bolts to the Yellow "W" 's for Worden Industry Groups. These are good indexes since they show both a chart for the industry group average (index) as well as for the individual stocks making up the group.
    14. You can flag the industry group averages (those charts with tickers such as WG820 for Utilities-Electric) and copy them in the same way as earlier. Only this time, you have already created a WatchList for Indexes, so when you do the WatchList - Copy to Other List - Flagged Symbols, and you are asked to select the Destination Chart List, just find the one you created earlier.
